CLEVELAND, Ohio—The Mount Union women's basketball fell on the road 63-59 to Case Western Reserve Tuesday night at Horsburgh Gymnasium.
The Purple Raiders (3-2) were led by junior
Dae Dae Nash (Akron / Buchtel) scoring 15 points.
Freshman
Brooklyn Mosher (Marion / River Valley), junior
Ali Hudik (Mentor / Lake Catholic) and sophomore
Sierra Schlosser (Galloway / Bishop Ready) each had double digits with 12, 11 and 10 respectively.
Case Western (4-3) was led on offense by Sarah Mitchell scoring 16 points while Kayla Characklis finished with a 15 point, 12 rebound double-double.
The first quarter went the way of Case Western jumping out to an 8-4 lead. Mount Union would get within two at 12-10 but a 13-5 run from Case Western gave them a 25-15 lead at the end of the quarter.
In the second quarter both teams battled and traded buckets with Case Western extending its lead to 16 but the Raiders an 8-1 run at the end of the quarter to shrink the lead down to 38-29.
Case Western once again extended the lead out to 14 this time but a quick 10-0 run from Mount Union brought the lead down to just four. Case Western extended the lead again out to 13 this time but a three before the buzzer brought the lead down to 10.
The final quarter saw Case Western grab a 14 point lead twice with the last time being at 59-45 with 7:17 left in the game. Mount Union battled its way back to just a two point advantage for Case Western with 11 seconds left but two free throws from Case Western iced the game taking the 63-59 victory.
Mount Union will begin conference play on the road this weekend on Saturday, December 2nd at 2 PM in Wilmington, Ohio.
