Women's Volleyball: OAC Semifinal Game Preview; Raiders Hit the Road Against Marietta

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union travels to Marietta to compete in the semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Tournament Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Ban Johnson Arena.

Teams Breakdown
The Purple Raiders (19-7 overall) are the tournament's No. 3 seed and Marietta (15-11 overall) comes in as the No. 2 seed.
 
Mount Union brings in the OAC's top defense averaging 2.5 blocks per set currently ranking fourth in the nation and 19.20 digs which is 14th in the nation. Marietta is ninth in the conference in digs with 15.56 per set and fourth in blocks per set with 1.73.
 
On the offensive side Mount Union is fifth in kills per set with 12.24 with Marietta just ..31 ahead in fourth with 12.55 per set. The teams switch in assists per set as Mount Union is fourth with 11.27 and Marietta is just .02 behind sitting in fifth with 11.25.
 
Players to Watch (Mount Union)
#9 Heaven Bartell – Bartell just picked up her third straight First Team All-OAC honor this week. The junior outside hitter currently ranks third in the OAC in kills per set with 3.39, fourth in kills in the OAC with 312, seventh in hitting percentage at .277 and 13th in the digs per set with 2.87.
 
#5 Alexis Meyer – Meyer picked up her first Frist Team All-OAC honor this week. The junior middle hitter currently ranks first in blocks per set in the OAC with 1.24, which ranks eighth in the nation and 10th in the OAC in hitting percentage at .268.
 
#10 Averi Haley – Haley earned her first Honorable Mention honor this week. The freshman libero ranks fourth in the OAC in digs per set with 5.04 and digs at 459.
 
Players to Watch (Marietta)
#15 Maggie Fellers – Fellers picked up her third Frist Team All-OAC honor this week. She is 7th in the OAC in kills with 273 and currently fourth in hitting percentage at .295. She leads Marietta in blocks with 71 and second in digs at 272.
 
#14 Jillian Fellers – Fellers picked up her first First Team All-OAC honor this week. She leads Marietta in kills with 311 and is fourth in the OAC in kills per set with 3.34.
 
#11 Emory Spitler – Spitler earned her second First Team All-OAC honor. She leads the OAC in assists (952) and assists per set (9.92).
 
OAC Tournament History
 
It is the 34th OAC Tournament appearance for Mount Union and the Raiders have a 28-30 record and won tournament titles in 2011, 2013 and 2014.
 
Marietta is in its 25th OAC tournament and have compiled a 7-25 record.
 
Mount Union and Marietta have met six previous times in the OAC Tournament with Mount Union winning four and Marietta winning two matchups.
