BEXLEY, Ohio—The Mount Union women's basketball team fell on the road in Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon 72-53 to Capital.
The Purple Raider (5-4, 2-2 OAC) were led by junior
Ali Hudik (Mentor / Lake Catholic) scoring 11 points and freshman
Tess Conroy (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights) finished with a team-high eight rebounds.
Capital (5-4, 2-2 OAC) had four double digit scorers with Demi Brewer leading them with 16 points while Bri O'Connor finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
FIRST QUARTER
Mount Union got the first two buckets of the game with a three from Hudik and a layup from sophomore
Mckayla Dunkle (Cadiz / Harrison Central) to take an early 5-0 lead. Capital responded with a 9-0 run to take a 9-5 lead with 6:27 remaining in the quarter. Mount Union then proceeded to go on a 15-0 run with Hudik and Nash each scoring five in the run to take a 20-9 lead. Capital would close the score to 22-13 to end the quarter.
SECOND QUARTER
Mount Union kept a lead of seven to 10 points through the first half of the quarter. Capital responded with an 11-0 run over the last 5:20 to take a 31-28 lead into the halftime break.
THIRD QUARTER
Capital began the third quarter on a 17-6 run to grab a 48-34 lead. Mount Union got within 10 as Nash made a layup with 3:32 left in the third quarter. Capital finished off the third quarter on a 7-3 run to take a 55-41 lead into the final quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
Mount Union got within 16 just once at the 7:40 mark left in the game. Capital completed the victory on a 12-9 run to take the win at 72-53.
