Men's Track and Field: #21 Mount Union Wins 11th Straight and 42nd Overall OAC Indoor Title

BEREA, Ohio—No. 21 Nationally ranked Mount Union men's track and field team won its 11th straight and record 42nd overall team title at the 2023 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Championships Saturday afternoon.
 
The Purple Raiders won eight of the 19 events contested and scored 243 points which was 103 ahead of second place No. 9 nationally-ranked John Carroll (140).
 
Tyler Gill (Greenville, Pa. / Reynolds) won Co-Outstanding Sprinter of the Meet while Kevin Lucas with his coaching staff got coaching staff of the year.
 
Gill along with Tylir Shannon (Transfer, Pa. / Reynolds), Haden Gibson (Brookfield) and Josh Fouche (Cuyahoga Falls / Walsh Jesuit) set an OAC Meet record in the 4x200-Meter relay winning in 1:28.63.
 
Brody Coleman (Knox, Pa. / Keystone) won the triple jump for the fourth year in a row with a leap of 45-feet 8-inches.
 
Vincent Giumenti (Dover) went 4:11.32 in the mile for second overall and now currently ranks 16th in Division III. Giumenti picked up a victory in the 1,000-Meters running a 2:31.92 as well.
 
Jared Storm (Barberton) won the 55-Meter dash with a time of 6.40.
 
Gill and Storm combined with Matt McBride (Conneaut) and Justin Knoch (Canton / GlenOak) to win the 4x400-Meter relay in a time of 3:16.94 which converts to the eighth fastest time in the nation.
 
Gill along with Andrew McVicker (Dover) took home second and third in the 200-Meters in times of 22.04 and 22.13 which ranks them 19th and 27th.
 
Kyree Long (Austintown / Austintown-Fitch) and Dominic Deshuk (Amherst / Steele) took home second and third in the 55-meter hurdles in times of 7.72 and 7.74.
 
Aaron Blevins (Windham) finished second in the high jump with a leap of 6-feet 4.25-inches.
 
Jonah Bacho (Boardman) took home second in the shot put with a throw of 50-feet 4-inches.
 
Mount Union will head to Ohio Northern next weekend in a last chance meet before the following weekend at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama on March 10 and 11.
