BEREA, Ohio - Mount Union's women's track and field team ranked No. 6 in the nation, won its second straight and ninth overall team title at the 2023 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Championships Saturday afternoon.

The Purple Raiders won nine of the 19 events contested and scored 221.5 points which was 67 ahead of second place John Carroll (154.5).

Kennady Gibbins (Navarre / Fairless) won the Most Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet, while
Kenadee Wayt (Wheeling, W. Va. / Wheeling Central Catholic) won the Most Outstanding Sprinter of the Meet.

Wayt won the 55-Meters in a time of 7.11 which will convert to the ninth fastest time this year, won the 200-Meters with a time of 24.77 which converts to the fastest time in the nation currently and had runner-up honors in the 800-Meters running 2:16.73.

Gibbins won the high jump with a height of 5-feet 4.5-inches, the 55-Meter hurdles in a time of 8.27 while also grabbing third in the 55-Meter dash in a time of 7.30.

Picking up a victory was the quartet of
Halle Cochran (Salem),
Mary Mason (Alliance / Marlington),
Madison Miles (Padua / Padua Franciscan) and
Taylor Cupp (Geneva) in the 4x400-Meter relay running a 4:00.24.

Mile and Cupp combined with Micha Donley (Carrollton) and Hannah Neiger (Medina) to take home the victory in the 4x200-Meter relay in a time of 1:45.69.

Miles came also finished second in the 200-Meters with a time of 25.34 which converts to the 16th time in Division III this year.

Buzz Kline (Mogadore / Field) took home second in the shot put with a throw of 40-feet 4.75-inches.
Â
Megan Wertz (Canton / GlenOak) had a second-place finish in the mile (5:09.82) and third place finish in the 1,000-Meters (3:03.83).

Natasha Zahursky (Painesville / Riverside) took home third place in the 55-Meter hurdles with a 8.58.
Â
Mason finished right behind Wayt in the 800-Meters with a 2:18.00.
Â
Mount Union will head to Ohio Northern next weekend in a last chance meet before the following weekend at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama on March 10 and 11.
