WILMINGTON, Ohio—The Mount Union women's basketball team dropped its match 72-53 against Wilmington Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders (6-15, 3-11 OAC) were led by sophomore
Hailey Haywood (Barberton) who had a career-high 16 points while senior
Emma Cannon (Dalton) had 10 points for Mount Union.
Wilmington (13-8, 7-7 OAC) was led by Zahrya Bailey scoring 22 points.
Mount Union led 22-21 after the first quarter of play thanks to Haywood shooting five of five from the field scoring 12 points early on.
Wilmington took control of the game outscoring Mount Union 16-7 in the second quarter taking a 37-29 lead into halftime.
Wilmington outscored Mount Union 35-24 over the final two quarter taking the victory 72-53.
Mount Union returns home to take on Marietta on Wednesday at 7 pm in the MAAC.
