DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Mount Union baseball team blanked Rutgers-Newark, 12-0, during its Florida trip on Saturday.
Mount Union (9-3) scored three runs in the first, two in the second, one in the third, three in the sixth, and three in the eighth.
Senior
Zack Mazza (Flint, Mich. / Powers Catholic) and
Eric Schilling (Stow, Ohio / Stow-Munroe Falls) led the Raiders with three RBIs apiece.
Mount first-year
Leo Fornara (Chagrin Falls, Ohio / Chagrin Falls) improved to 2-0 on the mound, pitching seven scoreless innings and only allowing five hits, while striking out seven.
The Raiders will conclude their Florida trip Sunday, March 12 against Salve Regina at 10 a.m.
