Raiders Just Short of Comeback. Fall In OT

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's lacrosse team fell in its home opener to Hope 15-14 in overtime on Thursday night.
 
The Purple Raiders (2-1) were led on the offensive side by Emily Nannarone (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) with four goals while Madi Karr (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter) had five points scoring two goals and having three assists.
 
Eden Kesler (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) had three goals and an assist while Ella Nejad (Rocky River) had two goals and an assist.
 
Hope (1-0) was led by Kerrigan Brown with five goals and Julia Brown with three goals.
 
The first quarter saw back and forth goals until a 3-0 run for Hope pushed the game out to 5-2. Mount Union closed within one goal with two goals but another two before the end of the quarter for Hope pushed the lead out to 7-4.
 
Mount Union scored two goals in between Hope goals in the second quarter as Mount Union trailed 9-6 going into halftime.
 
Mount Union fought back to take the lead in the third quarter outscoring Hope 5-1 to take a 11-10 lead into the fourth quarter.
 
Hope battled back to tie Mount Union outscoring the Raiders 4-3 to force overtime with the score tied at 14. Hope found the back of the net just 25 seconds into overtime to take the victory.
 
Mount Union will rest up as they have next week off for Spring break and return to action on Tuesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. taking on Oberlin at home.
