MARIETTA, Ohio—The Mount Union men's lacrosse team lost to Marietta 11-9 Wednesday evening at the Marietta Field.
The Purple Raiders (3-6, 0-2 OAC) were led by
Eli Ciotti (Canonsburg, Pa. / Linsly) with three goals.
Logan Addonizio (Wixom, Mich. / Walled Lake Western) scored two goals while picked up two assists as well.
Logan Gundermann (Hamburg, N.Y. / Hamburg) was in goal for the Raiders making 11 saves.
Marietta (4-4, 2-0 OAC) was led by Colton Abate with four goals.
Mount Union got on the board first with a goal from Addonizio just 1:46 into the game. Marietta responded with three straight goals, but Ciotti and
Grant Dunmire (Allison Park, Pa. / Hampton) picked up two goals to tie the game before the end of the first quarter.
Marietta scored the first goal of the second quarter but two goals from Ciotti gave the Raiders the led of 5-4 with 3:17 remaining in the half. Marietta responded with two goals of their own to take a 6-5 lead into halftime.
Mount Union would tie up the game in the third outscoring Marietta 2-1 with a goal each from
Connor Addison and
Logan Gebhart.
Mount Union would take the lead in the fourth with a goal from
Dane Matuscin (Washington, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) but four straight goals from Marietta would diminish Mount Union's hopes. Addonizio would add one more goal before the end of the game.
Mount Union will return home to take on Capital at 1 p.m. in Alliance.
