Men's Volleyball: Raiders Grab MCVL Victory Saturday Afternoon

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Indiana—The Mount Union men's volleyball team moved into a tie of first place in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League with a four-set victory over Wabash Saturday afternoon.
 
The Purple Raiders (18-5, 6-1 MCVL) won the match 25-19, 27-29, 25-17 and 25-18 and was led by a team-high 22 kills from Cameron Ternent (Massillon / Massillon Jackson) which was good for a .488 hitting percentage. Luke Trzeciak (Cranberry, Pa. / Seneca Valley) also had double digit kills with 16.
 
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) had a game high 45 assists while Aaron Armour (Waukesha, Wis. / Catholic Memorial) finished with a game-high 18 digs.
 
Wabash (8-17, 0-5 MCVL) was led by Patrick Volt with 26 kills, Will Beikes with 41 assists and Zachary Small with 15 digs.
 
The first set saw the game tied eight times while there was just one lead change. Mount Union used a 9-2 run to finish the game off and took its only lead in the set during that time. Mount Union finished with 12 kills and four errors in the set while Wabash had seven kills and eight errors.
 
The second set saw 14 ties with five lead changes as Wabash used a 5-2 run to end the set. Mount Union had 20 kills with five errors in the set while Wabash had 17 kills and two errors.
 
Set three saw just two ties and one lead change as Mount Union used an 8-3 run to get a 23-15 lead to win the set. Mount Union had 15 kills with two errors while Wabash had 13 kills and five errors.
 
The final set of the day saw three ties and no lead changes as Mount Union opened with an 8-3 run and used an 8-4 run to finish the match off. Mount Union had 12 kills and just three errors while Wabash and eight kills and seven errors.
 
Mount Union will finish its nonconference portion of the schedule on Tuesday, April 4th heading to Erie, Pa. to take on Penn State Behrend.
