ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's tennis team swept Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) foe Muskingum, 7-0, at home for its first shutout win of the season and second-straight win.
Mount sophomore
Abby Franks (Canton, Ohio / Canton South) earned a No. 1 singles win, 6-2, 6-2, and teamed up with first-year
Amelia Francisco (Canfield, Ohio / Canfield) for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Francisco also won No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Junior
Emma Thornton (Canfield, Ohio / Youngstown Ursuline) at No. 3 (4-6, 6-3, 10-2), first-year
Emily Peel (Green, Ohio / Green) at No. 4 (6-7 (0-7), 6-3, 10-5), and first-year
Chloe Bancroft (Madison, Ohio / Madison) at No. 5 (1-6, 6-2, 6-4) all earned comeback victories in their respective singles matches.
Mount Union (3-7, 3-3 OAC) will close out the regular season at home on Saturday, April 22 against Ohio Northern with a 1 p.m. start.
