Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Clinch Share of OAC Regular Season Title With Victory on Senior Day

ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's lacrosse team clinched a number one seed and at least a share of the Ohio Athletic Conference Regular season Title Saturday afternoon with a 17-14 victory on Senior Day.
 
The Purple Raiders (11-3, 6-0 OAC) honored its 10 graduating seniors, Julia Bates (East Lyme, Conn.), Sydney Nikolevski (Penfield, N.Y.), Madi Karr (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter), Megan Casciola (McMurray, Pa. / Peters Township), Emily Nannarone (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls), Maddie Mitchell (Hartville / Lake), Leah Shutts (Buffalo, N.Y. / Amherst Central), Madeline McCracking (Kings Mills / Kings), Shyanna White (Massillon / Massillon Jackson), and Sam Karr (Newark, Del. / Newark Charter, before the game.
 
Mount Union had four different three goal scorers with Bates, Nannarone, Mackenzie Kolstad (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior) and Katie Clark (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit). Eden Kesler (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) scored two goals while both Karr's and McCrackin each had a goal.
 
Kesler led the team in ground balls with five while Mitchell finished with a team high three caused turnovers.
 
White got the start in goal for the Raiders making a save in a quarter of play while Abby Lindkvist (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Haborfields) got the win and made eight saves.
 
Otterbein (6-7, 2-4 OAC) was led by Emily Willms with seven goals while Maggie Nance made nine saves in goal.
 
Both teams scored four goals in the first quarter with Otterbein getting the first then Nannarone and M. Karr scoring with another Otterbein goal. The last two goals for Mount in the quarter was Bates and McCrackin while Otterbein finished the quarter out with two.
 
Mount Union shut out Otterbein in the second and scored four goals with two from Clark and one a piece from S. Karr and Nannarone.
 
The third quarter saw a total of 12 goals as both teams scored six each. Kelser and Bates each had two goals while Kolstad and Nannarone each got a goal.
 
The Raiders started the quarter on a 2-1 run with a goal each from Clark and Kolstad to take a 16-11 lead. Otterbein finished the game on a 3-1 run but wasn't enough as Kolstad had a goal to finish for the Raiders.
 
Mount Union concludes the regular season next Wednesday in Berea, Ohio taking on Baldwin Wallace with a chance for the Raiders to outright win the OAC Regular Season. Mount Union will then advance to the semi-finals of the OAC tournament taking on the 4/5-seed on Wednesday, May 3rd.
