Football: Ruby Selected to Elite Shrine Bowl List

7/17/2023 6:21:00 PM

TAMPA, Fla. – Mount Union football wide receiver Wayne Ruby (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Charles W. Flanagan) was named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000, one of only five NCAA Division III players earning this honor.

Every year, approximately 1,000 all-star game eligible players are drafted, signed after the draft, or attend a rookie mini-camp. The Shrine Bowl 1000 serves as a look into the scouting process, as well as begin to preview college players who are currently all-star game eligible for the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl and 2024 NFL Draft class.

Ruby, who was named on the 2023 Lindy's Sports Magazine Preseason All-America Team, led all of NCAA Division III in receiving yards (1,785) and receiving touchdowns (30) - both school records - in 2022. Ruby's record-breaking season earned him an impressive three All-America citations.

The East-West Shrine Bowl is a best-in-class all-star event that will take place at the Dallas Cowboys Facility in Frisco, TX on February 1, 2024. The players will be coached by NFL coaches, in an NFL facility, and will have access to NFL-level resources, facilities, player-friendly schedules, and opportunities at the highest level.

Mount opens its much-anticipated 2023 season with a 1:30 p.m. kickoff Saturday, Sept. 2 at Defiance College.
