PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania—The Mount Union women's Volleyball team swept Westminster (PA) and Nazareth Saturday afternoon at the Carnegie Mellon Quad.
In the first match Mount Union (8-2) defeated Westminster (PA) (7-2) in straight sets 25-14, 25-23, and 25-14. Sophomore
Sydney Mercer (Salem / West Branch) and junior
Heaven Bartell (Cleveland / St. Joseph Academy) led the Purple Raiders with 12 and 11 kills.
Junior
Casey Kildow (Bethesda / Union Local) and freshman
Melissa Hansen (Hudson) led the team in assists with 22 and 17. Freshman libero
Averi Haley (Orrville) had 13 digs while Kildow and senior
Adrian Petrisko had 12. Kildow also picked up three service aces in the match.
In match two Mount Union took down Nazareth (1-8) 25-22, 29-27 and 25-16 to sweep the day as the Raiders now have an eight-game winning streak.
Bartell led the way with 11 kills once again while Kildow and Hansen finished with 16 and 13 assists.
Freshman
Ava Bolen (Wellsburg, W. Va. / Brooke) finished the match with nine total blocks while Bartell, Mercer and junior
Alexis Meyer (Avon Lake) had four blocks. Haley finished with 22 digs while Petrisko had 12 once again.
Mount Union will now take on Hiram on Wednesday at home with a 7 PM start time in Alliance, Ohio.
