Men's Soccer: Raiders Down Franciscan on the Road

Hancock Records First Career Hat Trick

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – Mount Union men's soccer team defeated Franciscan 3-1 in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday evening.

The Purple Raiders (3-0) struck first when senior Carter Hancock (Amherst / Marion L. Steele) scored his first goal of the season off an assist from freshman Dom Kustura (Willowick / Eastlake North) in the sixth minute to take a 1-0 lead.

The Barons (2-2) tied the game in the 63rd minute when Ryan Miller scored on a penalty kick. The Raiders would then reclaim the lead in the 71st minute when Kustura found Hancock again to take a 2-1 lead. Then, in the 77th minute Hancock would score his third goal of the game and record his first career hat trick. Franciscan wouldn't have an answer over the final 13 minutes as Mount Union would go on to win 3-1.

The Raiders are back on the road next when they travel to Washington, Pa. to take on Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, September 9 at 1 p.m.
