ALLAINCE, Ohio—The Mount Union track and field team welcomed 23 colleges and universities to the Jim Wuske Invitational Saturday afternoon as the team won four events.
Junior
Drake Willenborg (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon East) bested the field by almost six feet in the weight throw with 59-feet 10-inches. This mark moves him into the top 8 in Division III currently.
Senior
Jared Storm (Barberton) took the victory in the men's 60-Meter Dash with a time of 6.93 seconds.
Seniors Gia Venuto (Newton Falls / Southeast) and
Leah Costello (Geneva) finished first and second in the 1,000-Meters with times of 3:10.06 and 3:12.88.
Junior
Mary Mason (Alliance / Marlington) won the women's 500-Meters in a time of 1:18.38 leading three athletes to top five finishes.
Sophomore
Makayla Stizlar (Sugarcreek / Garaway) took second in the women's shot put with a throw of 42-feet 8.75-inches.
Senior
Buzz Kline (Mogadore / Field) finished second in the women's weight throw with a distance of 50-feet 9-inches.
Venuto also took second overall in the women's mile with a 5:12.51.
Junior Nick Scherson (Memphis, Tenn. / Christian Brothers) finished second overall in the men's 500-Meters with a time of 1:08.03 leading six Purple Raiders to top 10 finishes in the race.
The quartet of junior Aiden Malloy (League City, Tx. / Clear Springs), sophomores Isaac Pittman (Copley),
Jacob Jarrett (Collins / Western Reserve) and freshman Kayden Tackett (Amherst / Steele) took second in the Men's 4x200-Meter relay with a time of 1:33.80.
Sophomore Casey Wacchuas (Mentor), and freshmen Zoe Seabeck (Painesville / Riverside), Elizabeth Funkhouser (Carrollton) and Joy McFarland (Cuyahoga Falls / Woodridge) finished second in the Women's Distance Medley Relay with a time of 14:07.97.
Next weekend the Raiders will split time between the Jud Logan Light Giver Open hosted by Ashland University or the NYU Invite hosted at the Armory in New York City.
