ALLIANCE, Ohio – The No. 14 nationally ranked Mount Union men's basketball team defeated Baldwin Wallace 70-56 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup on Wednesday evening.
The Purple Raiders (11-1, 4-1 OAC) had two players score in double figures with senior
Christian Parker (Canton / GlenOak) leading the way with a 22-point, 14-rebound double-double and sophomore
Corey Hudson (Columbus / Pickerington) rounded out the Raiders in double digits with 14 points.
The Yellow Jackets (4-8, 1-4 OAC) were led by Ray Ellington who scored a team-high 19 points and AJ Pestello added in 17 points.
Mount Union jumped out a 9-4 lead just four and a half minutes into the game. Baldwin Wallace would come back to tie the game at 15 apiece with 8:53 remaining in the first half. The Raiders and Yellow Jackets would go back and forth with neither team being able to gain an edge over the final eight minutes of the first half, with Mount Union taking a 31-30 lead into the halftime break.
The Raiders would open the second half on a 13-2 run over the first 2:55 to take a 44-32 lead with just under 16 minutes left to play. Mount Union would then continue to slowly build on their lead over the final 15:57 of game, with the largest lead being 17 and the Yellow Jackets never getting closer than 10 as the Raiders would go on to win 70-56.
The Raiders hit the road next when they travel to Westerville for an OAC matchup with Otterbein on Saturday, January 6 at 1 p.m.
