Men's Volleyball: McClure and Raiders Set Serving Aces Record In Win Over Bethany

BETHANY, West Virginia—The Mount Union men's volleyball team used a team and individual record in serving aces to take care of business Tuesday evening sweeping Bethany with scores of 25-11, 25-14 and 25-7.
 
The Purple Raiders (2-0) were led by senior Jack McClure (Massillon / Massillon Jackson) with 13 service aces and 10 kills. McClure sits sixth in most aces in a match in Division III history while the team set a school record with 21 aces.
 
Junior Max Kaiser (Lewis Center / Olentangy) led the Raiders in assists with 17.
 
Freshman Peyton Koszelak (Eden, N.Y. / Eden) led Mount Union in digs with seven while junior Aaron Armour (Waukesha, Wis. / Catholic Memorial) finished with five.
 
Bethany (0-6) was led by James Lucht with five kills and Alexander Blair with 10 assists.
 
Mount Union had 28 kills on 47 attempts with just eight errors for a hitting percentage of .426 while Bethany had 10 kills on 39 attempts but 11 errors for a -.026 hitting percentage.
 
Mount Union finished with 21 serving aces and 18 digs while Bethany had just three aces and nine digs.
 
Mount Union now heads to the FrogJump Invitational hosted at Juniata College. The Raiders will take on #12 Juniata on Friday at 7:30 PM, #11 Carthage on Saturday at 11 AM and #2 Stevens on Saturday at 1:30 PM.
