Football: #3 Mount Union Scores 78 in Homecoming Win vs Wilmington

ALLIANCE, Ohio – No. 3 Mount Union scored a touchdown on its first nine drives and won 78-19 over Wilmington on Homecoming on Saturday for the second-most points in program history.
 
Mount Union (5-0, 4-0 OAC) scored a touchdown on all eight first-half drives and led 56-12 at halftime.
 
In one half of work, senior RB Tyler Echeverry (Naples, FL/Barron Collier) went off with four total touchdowns (tying a career-high), including three rushing touchdowns which also tied a career-best. Echeverry was just short of 100 yards as he ran for 97 yards off eight carries with an average of 12.1. Junior QB Noah Beaudrie (Monroe, MI/Erie-Mason) was a perfect 15 for 15, breaking a school record for highest percentage passes completed. Braxton Plunk (10-10) and D'Angelo Fulford (14-14) are the only other two players with a perfect pass completion with a minimum pass attempts of 10. Beaudrie finished with 248 yards and three touchdowns through the air, and added a rushing score.
 
In total, Mount Union ran for 436 yards, the fourth-most in a game in school history and the most since 2014, averaging a school-record 12.1 yards per rush. Freshman RB Kayden Minner (New Madrid, MO/New Madrid County Central) had a career day with a game-high 102 yards on the ground (with a career-long of 48) – the first 100-yard game of his collegiate career. Minner could have scored, but ran out of bounds at the one. Another freshman RB had a big game for the Raiders as Shaun Thomas (Lima, OH/Lima Central Catholic) ran for a career-high 85 yards and added a touchdown. Freshman QB Mikey Maloney (Concord Township, OH/Painesville Riverside) added 52 yards. Senior RB Darnell Williams (Cleveland, OH/John Adams) had two rushing touchdowns, tying a career-high.
 
Junior WR Nick Turner (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville) had four catches for 87 yards and a touchdown, while senior WR Tyrell Sanders (Indianapolis, IN/Pike) added a touchdown grab.
 
Mount Union's 684 total yards were 13th-most in program history.
 
The Raiders had five sacks on the day, led by junior Kaleb Brown (La Plata, MD/La Plata) with two. Brown also had a forced fumble and recovery on the same play. Senior Rossy Moore (Lima, OH/Lima Central Catholic) led the defense with 10 tackles, to go along with 2.5 tackles for loss and a half sack. Moore is now fourth all-time in Mount Union history for career tackles for loss.
 
The Purple Raiders will next host Heidelberg on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1:30 p.m.
