TIFFIN, Ohio—The Mount Union women's volleyball team came away with a five set victory over Heidelberg in Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon.
With scores coming in around the conference today the Purple Raiders jumped up to a solo spot in second just one game behind the conference leader in Marietta.
Mount Union (16-7, 4-1 OAC) dropped the first set 25-21 to Heidelberg (11-11, 2-3 OAC) bounced back in the second set winning 25-10, dropped the third set 25-22 and then winning the final two sets 25-23 and 15-10.
The Raiders were led by seniors
Heaven Bartell (Cleveland / St. Joseph Academy) and
Alexis Meyer (Avon Lake) with 19 and 13 kills respectively.
Senior
Casey Kildow (Bethesda / Union Local) finished with 26 assists and six service aces while sophomore
Melissa Hansen (Hudson) finished with 14 assists.
Bartell led the way in digs with 19 as Kildow finished with 18, sophomore
Averi Haley (Orrville) and senior
Katelyn Lesko (Mineral Ridge) finished in double digits with 16 and 13.
Sophomore
Ava Bolen (Wellsburg, W. Va. / Brooke) and freshman
Cami Welty (Eastlake / Eastlake North) each finished with six blocks while Meyer had five.
Heidelberg was led by Riley Tople with 16 kills, Maddie Reed with 28 assists and Grace Dohanyos with 32 digs.
Mount Union now welcomes Baldwin Wallace to Alliance on Wednesday, October 23
rd with a 7 pm start time for OAC play.
