MARIETTA, Ohio – Mount Union's women's soccer team lost an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup 3-1 against Marietta on Wednesday evening.
The Pioneers (7-7-3, 3-4-1 OAC) would strike first when Taylor Sloan found the back of the net in the fifth minute to take a 1-0 lead.
The Purple Raiders (5-11-1, 1-6-1 OAC) would answer with a goal of their own in the 32
nd minute when sophomore
Ella Dinwiddie (Medina / Wadsworth) scored on a penalty kick to tie the game at a goal apiece.
Marietta would reclaim the lead in the 37
th minute this time scoring off a goal from Mallory Sullivan. Then, they would add an insurance goal in the 76
th minute when Shelby Carr was able to find the back of the net.
Mount Union wouldn't have an answer over the final minutes as the Pioneers would go on to win 3-1.
The Raiders return home next when they host Capital in their regular season finale on Saturday, November 2 at 1 p.m. in Kehres Stadium in Alliance.
