ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's soccer team defeated John Carroll 2-0 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup on Wednesday evening.
The Purple Raiders (8-3-1, 2-0 OAC) would strike first when junior
Reese Utter (Dover) was able to find fifth-year
Carter Hancock (Amherst / Marion L. Steele) for a goal to take a 1-0 lead in the 21
st minute. Mount Union would add to that lead in the 71
st minute when Hancock scored his second goal of the game making the lead two goals.
The Blue Streaks (7-3-2, 1-1 OAC) wouldn't have an answer over the final 19 minutes of game time as the Raiders would go on to win 2-0.
Senior goalkeeper
Lucas Fields (West Chester / Lakota East) recorded four saves in the shutout victory, marking his third shutout of the season.
The Raiders are home again next when they host Wilmington on Saturday, October 12 at 7 p.m. in Kehres Stadium.
