Men's Basketball: No. 19 Raiders Cruise Past Brockport at Home

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The no. 19 nationally ranked Mount Union men's basketball team defeated SUNY Brockport 100-71 in a non-conference matchup on Friday evening. 

The Purple Raiders (2-1) had six players score in double figures with junior Corey Hudson (Columbus / Pickerington) leading the way with a game-high 15 points, fifth-year Christian Parker (Canton / GlenOak) recorded his second straight double-double scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Senior Marcus Steele (Solon / Solon) added 12 points, junior Kevin Moore (Campbell / Campbell Memorial) would score 11 points for the Raiders and sophomore Elijah Farrington (Massillon / Massillon Washington) and freshman Chance Casenhiser (Uniontown / Lake) would each put up 10 points to round out Mount Union's double digit scorers. 

The Golden Eagles (1-2) were led by Nathanial Gordon who scored a team-high of 14 points and Zachary Rice who added in 13. 

Mount Union would open the game with a massive 14-0 run in the first 2:35 of game time. After going back and forth over the next several minutes, the Raiders would lead 32-16 with 8:42 to play in the half. The Eagles would go on a quick run narrowing the gap to 36-25 with just under six minutes to play in the first half. Mount Union and Brockport would go on to exchange baskets over the final five and a half minutes of the half before Steele would hit a three with just three seconds to play to give the Raiders a 50-32 lead heading into the halftime break.

The Raiders would open the second half with a 9-2 run to push the lead out to 25 with 15:58 remaining in the game. Mount Union would continue adding to their lead over next several minutes stretching the lead to 76-45 with just under 11 minutes to play. The Golden Eagles wouldn't be able to get closer than 27 over the final 10 minutes of action as Mount Union would go on to win 100-71.

The Raiders travel to Wooster next to take on Bluffton in the first day of the Wooster Tournament on Friday, November 22 at 5:30 p.m.
