BOSTON, Massachusetts—The Mount Union men's track and field team broke two schools records and added three top 20 marks in Division III while being split up at two meets this weekend.
The quartet of all seniors in
Mason Kutz (Dalton),
Justin Knoch (Canton / GlenOak),
Curtis Joppeck (New London) and
Vincent Giumenti (Dover) broke the school record in the Distance Medley Relay at Boston by 13 seconds running 9:46.31 which is the seventh fastest all-time and is second in Division III currently.
Giumenti also competed in the 1,000-Meters running 2:25.93 which is fourth all-time in Division III.
Senior
Matt McBride (Conneaut) broke his own school record in the 400-Meters at Boston running 47.27 which is ninth all-time in Division III and ranked third this season.
McBride and Koch joined up with senior
Josh Fouche (Cuyahoga Falls / Walsh Jesuit) and junior
Haden Gibson (Brookfield) to run the fourth fastest time this season in Division III in the 4x400-Meter relay with a 3:13.63.
WESTERVILLE, Ohio-- At the All-Ohio Championship meet the Purple Raiders finished first at the meet with 118 points 17.5 ahead of second place Baldwin Wallace with 100.5 points.
The top three spots in the 800-Meters went the way of Mount Union as junior
Alex Reese (Geneva) won the meet with a 1:55.90, freshman
Tyler Kohlmann (Huron) took second with a 1:56.71 and redshirt freshman
Liam Blake (Alliance / Marlington) grabbed third with a 1:56.82
Junior
Drake Willenborg (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon East) won the weight throw with a toss of 56-feet 3-inches.
Freshman
Carter Lewis (Alliance) won the shot put with a toss of 50-feet 11.5-inches.
Sophomore
Brady Burrey (Bellfontaine) took home second in the 200-Meters with a 22.44.
Sophomore
Chris Tooms (New Concord / John Glenn) took third in the mile with a 4:27.01.
The crew of sophomores Isaac Pittman (Copley),
Michael Cline (Twinsburg),
Nick Turner (Strongsville) and freshman Kayden Tackett (Amherst / Steele) finished third in the 4x200-Meter relay with a 1:31.94.
Pittman also took third in the 400-Meters with a time of 51.20.

Nick Scherson (Memphis, Tenn. / Christian Brothers), sophomores
Jacob Newby (Solon) and
Jacob Jarrett (Collins / Western Reserve) and freshman
Dylan Neff (Navarre / Fairless) took third in the 4x400-Meter relay with a 3:29.46.
Mount Union returns home for the Mount Union Tune Up next weekend.
