BETHANY, West Virginia—The Mount Union men's lacrosse team opened its season with a dominate 25-5 win over Bethany Saturday afternoon.
 
The Purple Raiders (1-0) were led by freshman 
Obrigh Tallchief (Angola, N.Y. / LakeShore) with five goals and one assist. Freshman 
Stephen Moschetta (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Trinity) got the victory in goal with four saves in 30 minutes of play.
 
Bethany (1-2) was led by Tyler Britton with two goals and Christian Nestor sat in goal with 18 saves in 56:55 minutes.
 
The first goal of the season came from Tallchief as Mount Union then proceeded to score the next eight goals to take a 9-0 lead. Tallchief had three while 
Noah Grigson (Portsmouth, R.I. / Bishp Stang), 
Braylon Li (Richfield / Revere), 
Mark Zusman (Willoughby / Willoughby South), 
Liam Erwin (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior) and 
Jake Miller (Green) each scored a goal. The Raiders got one more goal after a Bethany goal from 
Spencer Logsdon (Akron / Archbishop Hoban) to lead 10-1 after one quarter.
 
The second quarter saw Mount Union outscore Bethany 9-1. Logsdon scored three while Li, Tallchief, Erwin, Miller along with 
Sly Sundown (Akron, N.Y. / Akron), 
Ryder Evans (Wadsworth) and 
Dane Matuscin (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) each scored one goal.
 
The second half saw six Mount Union goals as 
Todd Siford (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Shaler) scored three goals, 
Alec Feigel (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) scored two goals and Grigson scored another.
 
Mount Union returns to the field next Saturday at Greenville, Pa. with a 12 PM start against Thiel (Pa.)
