Zack Mazza (Flint, Mich. / Powers Catholic) put on an offensive clinic with 10 RBIs and three home runs (including a grand slam) on the day.
The Purple Raiders (19-8, 6-4 OAC) was down 1-0 through five innings in game one, however, scored in every remaining inning – including a four-run seventh – to win 9-3. Mazza's two-run home run in the sixth put the Raiders in front, 2-1, and did not look back. Mazza, who put a cherry on top with another homer in the ninth, finished 3 for 5, with the four RBIs and three runs scored – all hits were an extra-base hit. Junior pitcher
Zachary Breeden (Cincinnati, Ohio / Cincinnati Elder) improved to 3-2 on the season, after throwing 7.0 innings, allowing only two runs off five hits and striking out seven.
The Raiders picked up where they left off in game two as they defeated the Comets in a 10-run rule, 16-6 victory. Mazza highlighted the game with a grand slam in the fourth to left center field, finishing 2 for 4 with six RBIs and two runs scored. Junior
Brady Hansen (Beaver, Pa. / Beaver Area) stayed perfect on the mound, improving to 6-0, as he pitched 5.0 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) and struck out three.
