ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's tennis team won, 8-1, at home over Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) foe Baldwin Wallace, extending its winning streak to three.
It's the most consecutive wins for the Purple Raiders since the 2018-19 season.
Graduate
Megan Reese (Massillon, OH / Jackson), the reigning OAC Player of the Week, battled back and won No. 1 singles, 6-7 (4-7), 6-1, 10-8. Reese teamed up with sophomore
Amelia Francisco (Canfield, Ohio / Canfield) for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Francisco also won No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-0.
Also earning singles wins were senior
Emma Thornton (Canfield, Ohio / Youngstown Ursuline) at No. 3, sophomore
Emily Peel (Green, Ohio / Green) at No. 4, and freshman
Emily Borchert (Richfield, Ohio / Holy Name) at No. 5.
Mount swept doubles competition as Thornton and Borchert won at No. 2, while Peel and sophomore
Chloe Bancroft (Madison, Ohio / Madison) won at No. 3.
The Raiders are next scheduled to travel to Marietta for OAC action on Wednesday, April 24 with a 3:30 p.m. start time.
