Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Mount Union women's tennis team won, 5-4, in a classic match versus Capital in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Quarterfinals at home on Tuesday.
Junior
Abby Franks (Canton, Ohio / Canton South) scored the fifth and match-deciding point in a comeback, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, win at No. 4 singles.
Mount Union advances to the OAC Semifinals for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
Graduate
Megan Reese (Massillon, OH / Jackson) and sophomore
Amelia Francisco (Canfield, Ohio / Canfield) won No. 1 doubles, 8-2. Reese and Francisco also won their respective singles matches with Reese winning at No. 1, 6-0, 6-2, and Francisco winning at No. 2, 7-6 (4), 6-0.
Senior
Emma Thornton (Canfield, Ohio / Youngstown Ursuline) at No. 3 singles also won in tie-breaking fashion, 7-6(6), 6-3.
The No. 4-seeded Purple Raiders will play top seed Otterbein on Friday, May 3 at 9 a.m. at West Campus Courts on the campus of Ohio Northern. Start time is 9 a.m.
