Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Fall in OAC Championship

BEXLEY, Ohio—The Mount Union women's lacrosse team fell 22-9 in the Championship game of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament to Capital Saturday afternoon.
 
The Purple Raiders (12-4) was led by senior Isabella Robatin (Brecksville / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) and junior Emily Funk (Strongsville) with two goals while senior Katie Clark (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) finished with five points as she had a goal and four assists.
 
Seniors Eden Kesler (Chagrin Falls / Kenston), Tara Santoro (Canfield), junior Mackenzie Kolstad (Victor, N.Y. / Victor Senior) and sophomore Ella Nejad (Rocky River) each scored a goal for Mount Union.
 
Abby Lindkvist (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields) finished the day with 11 saves in 45 minutes of play for Mount Union.
 
Capital (14-4) was led by Andi Henry with 10 goals while Emily Serafinchon made 12 saves in goal.
 
FIRST QUARTER
Capital struck quickly in the first as the first three goals went the way of the Comets before a goal from Clark looked to settle the game down. Capital however responded with four goals taking a 7-1 lead until a goal from Santoro made it 7-2. Capital grabbed one more goal to take an 8-2 lead into the first break.
 
SECOND QUARTER
Mount Union found its footing in the second as they had two goals from Funk and Robatin getting within two at 8-6. Capital however found the back of the net three times before the end of the quarter to take an 11-6 lead.
 
THIRD QUARTER
Capital got the first four goals of the third getting the largest lead of 15-6 so far in the game. Kesler grabbed Mount Union's lone goal of the quarter to get back within eight but another four goals from Capital gave them a 19-7 lead heading into the final period.
 
FOURTH QUARTER
Capital got the first three goals of the fourth as Kolstad and Nejad each got a goal to end the game for Mount Union.
 
Mount Union will now await its fate. The Raiders are in roughly the same spot as last season will await the NCAA Division III Selection show on Monday at 10:30 am to see if they can earn one of the 20 bids handed out.
 
If the Raiders end the season Lindkvist will have run her single season saves record up to 160 saves. Clark which could come back for another season if she would like could have ended her career today with the school record in career points with 339 and career assists with 157.
