NORTON, Ohio-- The Mount Union women's cross country team took to the Silver Creek Metro Park course on a hot and muggy Friday afternoon to kick off the cross country season.

Jasmine Arnold (Jewitt / Harrison Central Catholic) led Mount Union with a 55th place finish overall in a time of 19:42.1 in a field of all Division I teams over a 5k course.

Kennedy Schlessman (Huron) was second for the Purple Raiders in a time of 19:59.6 placing her 61st.

Taylor Hennessey (Madison),
Taylor Forbes (Byesville / Meadowbrook) and
Ashley Cooper (Mentor) rounded out the scoring placing 84th, 86th and 91st respectively with times of 20:48.7, 20:53.2 and 21:09.2.

Ava Hartman (Chardon / Beaumont) and
Marah Bethel (Barnesville) rounded out the top seven with times of 21:13.9 and 21:18.4.

The Raiders will next take to the course on Saturday, September 14th at the RMU Colonial Invite in Clinton, Pa.
