Women's Soccer: Raiders Drop Season Opener to Waynesburg

ALLAINCE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's soccer team lost their season opener against Waynesburg 2-1 on Friday evening.

The Purple Raiders (0-1) struck first when freshman Rachel Chenos (Hilliard / Hilliard Bradley) scored her first career goal in the 41st minute off a penalty kick to take a 1-0 lead.

The Yellow Jackets (1-0) would come back to tie the game in the 67th minute when Hailey Gilchrest scored off an assist from Sutton Clark to tie the game at one. Waynesburg would then claim their first lead of the game in the 89th minute when Clark found Waverly Lorne to take a 2-1 lead.

Mount Union wouldn't be able to answer over the final minute as the Yellow Jackets would go on to win 2-1.

The Raiders hit the road next when they travel to Pittsburgh on Wednesday, September 4 to take on Chatham at 6 p.m.
