CLEVELAND, Ohio – Mount Union's women's soccer team lost to nationally ranked No. 15 Case Western Reserve 5-0 in a non-conference game on Wednesday evening.
The Spartans (4-0-2) struck first when Mackenzie Mueller found the back of the net in the tenth minute to take a 1-0 lead. Case Western would add to that lead in the 47
th minute this time scoring off the foot of Ceci Dapino. Then, in the 50
th minute they would extend the lead to three goals when Alexis Sassower was able to find the back of the net. The Spartans would add a fourth goal in the 57
th minute and a fifth goal in the 87
th minute to make the lead 5-0 with Abby Welker and Carolyn Koutures scoring.
The Purple Raiders (2-4) weren't able to find the back of the net over the remainder of the game as the Spartans would go on to win 5-0.
The Raiders return home next when they host Denison on Saturday, September 21 at 7 p.m. in Kehres Stadium in Alliance.
