GRANTHAM, Pennsylvania—The Mount Union men's volleyball team split day two of the Messiah Invitational.
Mount Union (4-3) defeated Randolph-Macon (1-2) in four sets, 25-23, 25-13, 22-25 and 26-24, in the first game of the day.
The Purple Raiders were led by
Jack McClure (Massillon / Jackson) with 14 kills while
Aaron Armour (Waukesha, Wis. / Catholic Memorial) finished with 12.
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) picked up 35 assisted while
Peyton Koszelak (Eden, N.Y. / Eden) finished with 22 digs.
Randolph-Macon was led by Phillip Van Essendelft with 11 kills, Kody Rogan with 31 assists and 12 digs.
In the second match of the day Mount Union fell in four sets, 25-23, 18-25, 27-29 and 20-25, to No. 14 nationally ranked Misericordia (4-3).
McClure led the team in kills with 22 kills while
Michael Bowler (Broadview Heights / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) finished with nine kills.
Heeney led the way in assists with 36 while Koszelak had 13 digs and Armour had 10 digs.
Misericordia was led by Anthony DePalma with 23 kills, Gannon DeFrain finished with 51 assists and 14 digs.
Mount Union will return home to take on Hiram on Tuesday with a 7 PM start.
