ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's soccer team lost to Wilmington 3-1 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.
It was senior night at Mount Union so prior to the start of the game the six seniors were honored, those seniors included:
Lauran Bailey (St. Paris / Graham),
Madeline Boulos (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Deer Lake),
Iva Bruketa (Mentor / Lake Catholic),
Clara Double (Salem),
Morgan Proskin (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Plum Senior) and
Jillian Wiersma (Zanesville).
The Purple Raiders (3-5-2, 0-2 OAC) would strike first when junior
Ella Dinwiddie (Medina / Wadsworth) found the back of the net off a free kick to take a 1-0 lead in the second minute.
The Quakers (8-3-2, 3-0 OAC) would answer with a goal of their own in the 12
th minute when Emily Stall scored to tie the game at a goal apiece. Wilmington would then claim their first lead of the game just over 12 minutes later when Alex Wilson found the back of the net in the 25
th minute to take a 2-1 lead. The Quakers would then add an insurance goal in the 48
th minute, this time scoring off the foot of MJ Little to extend the lead to two goals.
Mount Union wouldn't have an answer over the final 42 minutes of game time as the Quakers would go on to win 3-1.
The Raiders hit the road next when they travel to New Concord on Wednesday, October 15 to take on OAC foe Muskingum at 7 p.m.
