Men's Swimming: Raiders Get Season Opening Win Over Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. – Mount Union's men's swimming and diving team defeated Saint Vincent 151-111 in their season opener on Thursday evening.

Top Finishers
  • 200-yard medley relay: team consisting of senior Jacob Hathaway (Lexington), freshman Trey Nickoli (Lexington), junior Daniel Claxton (Georgetown, Guyana / West Demerara Secondary) and freshman Ethan Harvey (Cleveland / St. Ignatius) won the event with a time of 1:36.74
  • 1000-yard freestyle: senior Owen Zundell (Marietta) finished second with a time of 10:58.82
  • 200-yard freestyle: freshman Leo Iacovetta (Mayfield) and senior Lucas Starling (Lexington) finished first and second with times of 1:49.60 and 1:49.88 respectively
  • 50-yard backstroke: Hathaway finished second with a time of 25.09
  • 50-yard breaststroke: Nickoli won the event with a time of 26.98
  • 100-yard butterfly: freshman Isaac Tennant (Coraopolis, Pa. / Moon) won the event with a time of 54.79
  • 50-yard freestyle: Harvey finished second with a time of 21.93
  • 100-yard freestyle: Harvey and Starling finished first and second with times of 48.43 and 48.95 respectively
  • 100-yard backstroke: Hathaway finished second with a time of 54.03
  • 100-yard breaststroke: Nickoli won the event with a time of 1:00.73
  • 500-yard freestyle: Iacovetta finished second with a time of 5:07.09
  • 50-yard butterfly: Claxton won the event with a time of 24.58
  • 200-yard freestyle relay: team consisting of Harvey, Tennant, Starling and Hathaway won the event with a time of 1:27.57 and the team consisting of sophomore Andrew Popovic (Twinsburg), junior Angelo Lawrence (Mooresville, Ind. / Center Grove), Iacovetta and Claxton finished second with a time of 1:31.16
The Raiders are on the road again next when they travel to Tiffin on Saturday, October 25 to take on Ohio Athletic Conference foe Heidelberg at 1 p.m.
