ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's volleyball team lost a five set thriller, 25-13, 22-25, 25-27, 25-22, and 11-15, to Heidelberg in Ohio Athletic Conference play Friday evening.
The Purple Raiders (9-14, 1-3 OAC) were led by freshman outside hitter
Zoe Sweigart (Canal Winchester) with 19 kills.
Junior outside hitter
Sadie Thomas (Cambridge Springs, Pa. / Maplewood) finished with 20 digs and 12 kills while junior right side
Riley Meister (Madison) had 10 kills.
Sophomore setter
Anna Mihacevich (Hinkley / Pauda Franciscan) and freshman setter
DeLani Durst (Clyde) finished with double digit assists with 24 and 22 respectively.
Junior libero
Averi Haley (Orrville) finished with a game-high 25 digs while Mihacevich and sophomore defensive specialist
Sam Cantrell (Eastlake / Eastlake North) finished with 11 and 10 digs.
Heidelberg (14-12, 3-2 OAC) was led by Sophia Simon with 14 kills, Olivia Miller with 24 assists and Grace Dohanyos with 23 digs.
Mount Union returns to play next Wednesday in Berea taking on Baldwin Wallace in OAC play at 7 pm.
