WAYNESBURG, Pennsylvania—The Mount Union women's basketball team took down the host in Waynesburg 88-66 Friday afternoon in the Waynesburg Classic.
Mount Union (5-1) was led by
Elizabeth Mason (Alliance / Marlington) and
Bree McCabe (Massillon / Tuslaw) with 17 points and six rebounds each.
Chelsea Evanich (Alliance / Marlington) and
Abby Muckleroy (Canfield) added 11 and 10 points respectively.
Waynesburg (1-5) was led by Kalista Friday with 18 points and five rebounds.
Mount Union got out to a 27-16 lead after one quarter play. Mount Union's offense kept firing scoring 26 while holding Waynesburg to just 17, taking a 53-33 lead into the halftime break.
The third quarter Mount Union's defense held Waynesburg to just nine points while scoring 21 leading 74-42. The final quarter saw Waynesburg outscore Mount Union 24-14 but was too late for a comeback.
Mount Union will take on St. Vincent tomorrow at 1 pm back at Waynesburg University.
