MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Mount Union's men's basketball team defeated Dickinson 74-59 at the Penn State Harrisburg Tip-Off Classic on Sunday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders (2-0) had two players score in double figures with sophomore
Chance Casenhiser (Uniontown / Lake) leading the way with a game-high 24 points and sophomore
Elijah Farrington (Massillon / Massillon Washington) recording his second straight double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
The Red Devils (0-2) were led by Cole Cosby and Dane Moran who both scored a team-high 15 points and Jacob Pichay who added in 12.
Mount Union would jump out to a quick 6-0 lead just under three minutes into the game before Dickinson would respond with an 8-2 run to take their first lead of the game at 10-8 with 14:51 remaining in the first half. The remainder of the first half would be a back-and-forth battle with neither team able to gain much of an edge with the largest lead for the Raiders being four and the Devils never leading by more than two. Mount Union would take a narrow 32-31 lead into the halftime break.
The start of the second half was more of the same over the first three minutes before the Raiders would go on a massive 20-7 run over the next eight minutes of game time to take a 13-point 58-45 lead with 8:37 left to play in the game. The Raiders would slowly continue to build their lead over the remainder of the game with the largest being 18 and the Devils were never able to get closer than 11 as Mount Union would go on to win 74-59.
The Raiders are on the road again next when they head to Waynesburg, Pa. for the Omni Ink Waynesburg Tip-Off Tournament where they will take on Muhlenberg on Friday, November 14 at 5 p.m.
