ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's men's basketball team lost an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup against Ohio Northern 66-62 on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon.

The Purple Raiders (17-8, 14-4 OAC) had three players score in double figures with Parker leading the way with a 26-point, 10-rebound double-double. Sophomore
Elijah Farrington (Massillon / Massillon Washington) scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to record a double-double and Steele added in 10 to round out the Raiders in double digits.
The Polar Bears (14-11, 8-10 OAC) were led by Will Miller who scored a team-high 23 points, with Cayden Jacoby and Theo Maag both scoring 10 points.
Both teams would trade baskets over the first 12 minutes of action with neither team being able to gain an edge as Mount Union would gain just a one point, 21-20 lead with 7:42 remaining in the first half. Ohio Northern would then go on a 10-2 run over the next 3:52 of game time to take a seven-point lead with just under four minutes to play in the first half. The Raiders would answer with a 6-2 run to close the half and cut the lead down to 32-29 heading into the halftime break.
After the Polar Bears would stretch the lead back to seven to open the second half, Mount Union would answer with a 7-2 run to cut the lead down to just two with 15:55 remaining in the game. Ohio Northern was able to maintain that slim lead over the next 4:19 of game time before the Raiders would be able to reclaim the lead at 47-45 with 11 and a half minutes left to play. The Polar Bears would respond again however, this time with an 11-3 run over the next 7:54 to push the reclaim the lead at 56-50 with just under four minutes remaining in the game. Mount Union would slowly chip away over the final four minutes of game time cutting the lead down to two at multiple points in the last minute but wouldn't be able to reclaim the lead as Ohio Northern would go on to win 66-62.
The Raiders have clinched the No. 2 seed in the OAC Tournament next week and have earned a first-round bye so they will host one of the OAC Tournament Semifinal games on Thursday, February 27 at 7 p.m. against an opponent to be determined in the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
