Women's Basketball: Raiders Fall on the Road in OAC Play

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio—The Mount Union women's basketball team fell 66-60 on the road in Ohio Athletic Conference play Wednesday night.
 
The Purple Raiders (9-11, 4-9 OAC) were led by Dae Dae Nash (Akron / Buchtel) with 13 points and Chelsea Evanich (Alliance / Marlington) with 10 points.
 
John Carroll (15-6, 9-4 OAC) was led by Graci Semptimphelter with 20 points while Carly Perusek finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Mount Union outscored John Carroll 26-20 in the paint and had more bench points 24-to-17. Both teams traded the lead five times in the first quarter until John Carroll took the lead at the end of the quarter.
 
John Carroll got its largest lead of 12 but Mount Union would respond with a 7-2 run to end the quarter trailing 30-23. John Carroll extended its lead to 13 leading 36-23 again Mount Union responded with a 7-0 run to get within six points at 36-30. Both teams traded buckets the rest of the quarter as John Carroll led 45-36 at the end of the quarter.
 
Mount Union got the first bucket of the fourth quarter from Evanich to get within four. John Carroll once again pushed the lead out to 53-43 with 7:22 remaining to play. Nine straight points for Mount Union came the way of two layups from Evanich, a jumper from Ali Hudik (Mentor / Lake Catholic) and a three from Lily Scott (Youngstown / Ursuline) as they trailed 53-52 with 4:29 remaining. John Carroll however finished the game on a 13-7 run to take the 66-60 victory.
 
Mount Union returns home on Saturday taking on Otterbein at 1 PM in the MAAC.
