ALLIANCE, Ohio—Mount Union men's volleyball swept Mount St. Joseph, 26-24, 25-14 and 25-17, Friday night in Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League play.
The Purple Raiders (13-8, 3-0 MCVL) were led by
Jack McClure (Massillon / Jackson) with 11 kills while
Aaron Armour (Waukesha, Wis. / Catholic Memorial) and
Michael Bowler (Broadview Heights / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) finished with seven kills.
Will Heeney (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) picked up 25 assists as he was honored before the game for getting 2,500-career assists and is currently sitting top five in Division III for career assists.
Peyton Koszelak (Eden, N.Y. / Eden) finished with a game-high 19 digs for Mount Union.
Mount St. Joseph (8-12, 0-1 MCVL) was led by Carson Reed with 12 kills, Ben Carmosino with 27 assists and Sean Murray with 15 digs.
The first set saw three lead changes and seven ties with Mount Union having 10 kills and just six hitting errors while MSJ had 14 kills and seven hitting errors.
The second set Mount Union held the lead the whole set with 14 kills and no hitting errors while MSJ had nine kills and seven errors.
The final set saw one lead change and one tie with Mount Union finishing with 13 kills with five hitting errors while MSJ had eight kills with three hitting errors.
Mount Union will remain home with a match against Wittenberg tomorrow with a 1 PM start time.
