Women's Lacrosse: Katie Clark Breaks Assist Record as Raiders Dominate W&J

ALLIANCE, Ohio—Graduate student Katie Clark (Hudson / Walsh Jesuit) broke the school single game record for assists recording 10 in a 23-5 win over Washington and Jefferson Thursday night at Kehres Stadium.
 
Clark had tied the school record twice with eight previously and today picked up the 10 today in three quarters of play.
 
Mount Union (5-3) was led by Ella Nejad (Rocky River) with six goals and an assist while Clark had 10 assists and two goals.
 
Mackenzie Kolstad (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) and Reese Fuenfstueck (Fairport, N.Y. / Fairport) finished the game with four goals each. Eden Kesler (Chagrin Falls / Kenston) picked up three goals with Mae Pawlikowski (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Orchard Park) scoring two goals while Sophie Graves (Fairport, N.Y. / Penfield) and Emily Funk (Strongsville) each scoring a goal.
 
Kesler led the way on the draw picking up 10 draw controls with Abby Lindkvist (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields) was in goal making 11 saves and allowing just five goals.
 
Washington and Jefferson (2-3) was led by Mya Bolinda with two goals, Haley Lawyer with two caused turnovers and in goal making six saves was Gianna Baker.
 
Mount Union jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a goal from Fuenfstueck and Kolstad in the first three minutes. W&J responded with two goals to tie the game with 5:09 remaining in the first quarter. The final 5:09 however Mount Union got four different scorers with Kolstad, Funk, Fuenfstueck and Clark as Mount Union led 6-2.
 
Mount Union got on the board first in the second quarter with a goal from Kesler, but W&J responded with a goal of its own. Mount Union scored the final seven goals of the second quarter as Nejad had four, Kolstad had two and Kesler had one as Mount Union led 14-3.
 
W&J got the first goal of the third quarter but led than 1:10 later Fuenfstueck found the back of the net to keep an 11-goal lead. W&J got its last goal in the third quarter as Mount Union led 15-5. Mount Union got the final three goals of the third quarter as Pawlikowski, Nejad and Fuenfstueck each grabbed a goal.
 
Mount Union scored the final five goals in the fourth quarter as they had five different scorers with Nejad, Graves, Clark, Pawlikowski and Kesler.
 
Mount Union now starts Ohio Athletic Conference play at Ohio Northern in Ada, Ohio on Saturday at 1 PM.
