Women's Track and Field: Mary Mason Break School Record while Maddy Miles Drops Top 10 Mark at John Homon Open

ALLIANCE, Ohio— Senior Mary Mason broke her own school record in the 800-Meter run Saturday at the Bucknell Invite while Mount Union won five events hosting the John Homon Open Sunday afternoon at Kehres Stadium.
 
At the Bucknell Invite on Saturday afternoon Mary Mason broke her own school record in the 800-Meters with a time of 2:09.29 which was almost a whole second better of her previous record. She is currently fourth in Division III.
 
Maddy Miles won the 400-Meters by almost two seconds in a time of 55.92 which currently puts her ninth in Division III.
 
Miles teamed up with Kennedy Berger, Paula Incorvati and Carlie Besecker in the 4x100-Meter Relay finishing second with a time of 47.99.
 
Mount Union swept the top three positions in the 800-Meters with Taylor Hennessey, Marah Bethel and Callie Cyrus finishing in times of 2:17.49, 2:19.12 and 2:20.69 respectively.
 
Hennessey, Bethel and Cyrus teamed up with Cora Liskai to win the 4x400-Meter relay with a time of 3:57.38.
 
De'Aunee Thompson won the 400-Meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.90.
 
Makenna Oszust picked up a second place finish in the high jump with a leap of 5-feet 1.75-inches.
 
Madeline Burgess grabbed a second place in the triple jump with a leap of 36-feet 6.25-inches.
 
Besecker picked up a third-place finish in the 400-Meters with a time of 57.87.
 
Avonlea Jefferson and Elizabeth Mason finished second and third in the 100-Meter hurdles with times of 10.00 and 15.12 respectively.
 
Taylor Forbes finished third in the 10,000-Meter run with a time of 40:34.63

Mount Union will split up this next week with the throws squad heading to Slippery Rock on Thursday with the rest of the team heading to Tiffin to compete at Heidelberg.
