Men's Lacrosse: Raiders Season Ends in OAC Tournament Quarterfinals

WESTERVILLE, Ohio— Mount Union's men's lacrosse team fell 18-13 to Otterbein in the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Tournament Quarterfinals Saturday afternoon at Dwight C Ballenger Field.
 
The Purple Raiders (12-5) were led by Talon Osmun (Mattawan, Mich. / Mattawan) and Braylon Li (Richfield / Revere) with three goals each.
 
Spencer Logsdon (Akron / Archbishop Hoban), Mark Zusman (Willoughby / Willoughby South) and Liam Erwin (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) each scored two goals while Grant Dunmire (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Hampton) added a goal.
 
Alec Blazer (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillan) led the way in ground balls with five while Logan Gunderman (Buffalo, N.Y. / Hamburg) finished the game in net with 13 saves.
 
Otterbein (9-7) was led by Max Graham with five goals, Tyler Bussard going 24 of 30 on the face off and Luke Farthing making 11 saves in goal.
 
Otterbein got the first goal of the game just 17 seconds in, but Mount Union responded with two goals as Dunmire and Logsdon scored just 1:16 later to take the lead 2-1. Mount Union then got a goal each from Logsdon, Erwin and Osmun taking a 3-0 lead. Otterbein finished the final three minutes with two goals as Mount Union led 5-3 at the quarter break.
 
The second quarter Mount Union struck first with a goal from Li just over four minutes into the quarter taking a 6-3 lead. Otterbein responded with a 7-0 run in the quarter taking a 10-6 lead. Mount Union got two goals in the final 26 seconds of the half one each from Zusman and Erwin to get within two at 10-8.
 
Li got Mount Union going in the third quarter with a goal at the 11:25 mark as Mount Union trailed 10-9. A goal from Otterbein was responded by a goal from Osmun with 5:34 remaining in the quarter. Otterbein pushed its lead out to 13-10 on two straight goals but a goal from Zusman and Osmun got Mount Union within one again at 13-12. A late goal from Otterbein gave them a 14-12 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
 
Otterbein got the first goal of the fourth quarter. A response came from Mount Union once again as Li got his third goal of the day. Otterbein got a three-goal lead once again on a goal just 40 seconds later leading 16-13. Otterbein finished off the game scoring two more goals.
 
Mount Union will end its season tying the school record for wins with 12 wins and breaking the school record for OAC wins with six.
