Women's Volleyball: Raiders End Tournament with a Reverse Sweep of DePauw; Averi Haley Named to All-Tournament Team

ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union volleyball team split a pair of matches to end the Mount Union Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
 
Junior libero Averi Haley (Orrville) was named to the Mount Union Invitational All-Tournament team for Mount Union.
 
 The Purple Raiders (2-2) fell in the first match of the day to Clarkson (1-2) 20-25, 21-25, 25-19, 22-25.
 
Leading the way for the Raiders was a trio of freshman outside hitter Zoe Sweigart (Canal Winchester), sophomore middle hitter Cami Welty (Willowick / Eastlake North) and junior right side hitter Molly McKee (North Ridgeville) with 15, 12 and 11 kills respectively.
 
Freshman setter DeLani Durst (Clyde) finished with 43 assists in the game while five different Mount Union athletes had double digit digs. Haley led the way in digs with 21, sophomore defensive specialist Sam Cantrell (Eastlake / Eastlake North) finished with 16 digs, junior defensive specialist Abby DeGeorge (Hartville / Lake) and Durst had 11 digs and senior right side hitter Ryann Kanable (Powell / Olentangy Liberty) finished with 10 digs.
 
In the second match of the day Mount Union reverse swept DePauw (2-2) 20-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, and 15-11 to finish off the tournament.
 
Mount Union was led by McKee with 13 kills while junior middle hitter Ava Bolen (Wellsburg, W. Va. / Brooke) had nine kills on just 15 swings for a hitting percentage of .600.
 
Durst picked up 36 assists while sophomore setter Anna Mihacevich (Hinkley / Padua Franciscan) finished with 15 assists. Haley picked up 22 digs while Durst and DeGeorge finished with 10 digs each.
 
Mount Union will return to play on Wednesday, September 3rd at home taking on Case Western Reserve at 7 PM.
