ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's tennis team won its first match of the season with a 4-3 home-opening victory over Indiana East University out of the NAIA.
Senior Amelia Francisco (Canfield / Canfield) won no. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3. Sophomore Hannah Neely (Hartville/Lake) won no. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Francisco and sophomore Jillian Lohnes (Alliance / Alliance) won no. 1 doubles, 6-3, while senior Emily Peel (Green / Green) and junior Emily Borchert (Richfield / Holy Name) won no. 2 doubles, 6-4.
Mount Union (1-1) will next host Westminster next Saturday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m.
