ADRIAN, Mich. – Mount Union's women's soccer team defeated Adrian 2-0 in a non-conference matchup on Monday afternoon.
The Purple Raiders (3-2-2) were able to break the scoreless tie in the 61
st minute when sophomore
Rylee Hutton (Salem) was able to find junior
Ella Dinwiddie (Medina / Wadsworth) for the goal to take a 1-0 lead. Mount Union would then add an insurance goal in the 79
th minute when Hutton found the back of the net off an assist from freshman
Blake Eddy (Avon) to extend the lead to two goals.
The Bulldogs (3-5) wouldn't have an answer over the final 11 minutes of action as the Raiders would go on to win 2-0.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Leanne Williams (Poland / Poland Seminary) recorded her fifth shutout of the season in the win; she has now had a shutout in five of Mount Union's seven games to start the season.
The Raiders are back home next when they host Case Western Reserve on Saturday, September 27 at 7 p.m. in Kehres Stadium in Alliance.
