ALLIANCE, Ohio—The Mount Union men's volleyball team defeated Geneva in four sets 22-25, 25-21, 25- 22 and 25-14 during their season and home opener Tuesday evening.
With Mount Union graduating six seniors including five starters there was some mystery around the team but Mount Union found its grove in the second set and took the final three sets of the night after dropping the first.
The Purple Raiders (1-0) were led by freshman
Sam Morrison (St. Peters, Mo. / Fort Zumwalt South) who had an impressive 14 kills while senior
Michael Bowler (Broadview Heights / Brecksville-Broadview Heights) finished the night with 10 kills with a hitting percentage of .500.
Freshman
Justin Peters (Canonsburg, Pa. / Canon-McMillian) finished the night with 40 assists while junior
Peyton Koszelak (Eden, N.Y.) finished with 13 digs.
Geneva (0-1) was led by Owen Kelley who completed the night with 10 kills. Andrew Ubinger finished with 15 assists followed by Aaron Villi who had 12.
Mount Union will take on Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) at home this Saturday at 11 am.
