WESTERVILLE, Ohio—The Mount Union women's basketball team fell 64-53 to Otterbein on Saturday afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference play.
The Purple Raiders (13-7, 5-6 OAC) were led by a career-high 20 points from
Bree McCabe (Massillon / Tuslaw).
Elizabeth Mason (Alliance / Marlington) was one rebound shy of a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds while
Tess Conroy (Valley View / Cuyahoga Heights) finished with 10 points.
Otterbein (14-5, 8-2 OAC) was led by Mattie Walburn with 18 points.
Otterbein jumped out to a 15-6 lead after the first quarter of play. Otterbein outscored the Raiders 16-9 in the second quarter taking a 31-15 lead at the halftime break.
Mount Union battled back in the third quarter, outscoring Otterbein 18-14, trailing 45-33 at the end of the third quarter. Mount Union once again outscored Otterbein in the fourth quarter but it was not enough as they closed just one point, falling 64-53.
Mount Union returns home on Wednesday taking on No. 14 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace at 7 pm.
