ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union men's tennis team played at home for the first time as part of its spring schedule on Friday and won convincingly, 6-1, over Franciscan.
Senior
Elliott Warner (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) and sophomore
Nick Sziraky (Uniontown/Green) won 6-4 at no. 1 doubles. Warner won no. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-1, and Sziraky won no. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
Carson Arfaras (Canfield) and
Andrew Cavett (Beaver, Pa. / Beaver Area) won 6-2 at no.2 doubles with Cavett winning no.3 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Jacob Timonere (Ashtabula / St. John) and
Gabe McDade-Povick () won 7-6 in a tie breaker 7-5 at no. 3 doubles. Timonere won, 6-0, 6-1, at no. 5 singles and McDade-Povick (Dover) won, 6-1, 6-1, at no. 6 singles.
The Purple Raiders will next compete on Friday, Feb. 27, at home against Thiel at 5 p.m.
